Global Africa Fund Management anticipates that it will soon have an opening for a Head of Business Development for its African Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds and Separately Managed Accounts business. The position entails generating revenue (raising/gathering assets) for the Company, from new client relationships joint ventures, and other partnerships through expansion of our platform of fund of funds, discretionary portfolio management mandates, co-investment funds, direct investment funds, and advisory agreements. The position will involve placement agent activities relating to existing products, as well as active development of new product and service solutions in response to existing and prospective client needs, as well as seeking opportunities for services and advisory relationships.
The Firm expects candidates to posses an extensive personal network of connections, preferably with prior clients, and ideally including both institutions with an existing emerging managers program and newcomers to the emerging managers' space. Also, it should be sufficiently diversified so as to include pension funds, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, family offices and ultra-high net-worth individuals in the United States. International connections are also highly desirable, particularly in Europe, Pacific Asia, South Africa, and the Gulf Emirates. Beyond personal connections, the candidate will also be requested to exploit the Companys existing network of prospects.
The candidate will be integrally involved in the Firms strategic decision-making process, particularly in terms of market positioning, branding and new product development.
Depending on the candidates qualifications and experience, the position may be either at Senior Vice President or Managing Director level. Reporting to the Managing Member (Director) and Chief Executive Officer, the ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of professional experience and a solid knowledge of the emerging manager, hedge fund, venture capital, or private equity industry, products (fund-of-funds vehicles, venture capital and private equity funds), as well as experience in the sales and marketing of mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity and other investment products. In addition, we expect that the candidate will have knowledge of the buyers and distribution channels.
- Assist in development of sales and marketing strategy
- Proactively identify prospective clients or partners for the Company and prioritize them by their potential value and the likelihood of a successful close Call on prospective investors in coordination with other representatives of the Company
- Attend investors conferences (as speaker or participant) in order to reach out to new potential investors and build Companys image and marketplace presence
- Organize and/or participate on road shows for Company products and services
- Spearhead and/or review RFIs/RFPs, marketing material, and offering memoranda for various products
- Identify private equity products and solutions in collaboration with clients and the relevant divisions of the Company
- Negotiate term sheets, final agreements in relations to new business relationships, in collaboration with the Company's internal and external counsels
